4 Hour Herring Spawn Tour - Comox

The yearly Pacific herring spawn on Vancouver Island is one of the most important natural events in the Pacific Northwest. These small but mighty fish are a crucial part of a healthy food web and have immense ecological and cultural significance. Herring and their eggs are food for an immense number of marine animals including salmon, sea birds, eagles, seals, sea lions, and even whales like humpbacks and grey whales. While spawning, they’re also an important food source for terrestrial animals like bears and wolves.
Depart from our Comox Marine Centre on our 4 Hour Herring Spawn Tour and witness the sheer abundance of marine life around Hornby Island and Denman Island. You might even get a chance to witness the milky turqouise colour of the water from the spawning herring!
This tour takes place on our covered vessels which have a comfortable indoor seating area, spacious outdoor viewing deck, and bathroom. We'll cruise throughout the Salish Sea in search of the biggest and most exciting marine mammals that call this region home. Light snacks and refreshments are included.

- All safety equipment as required by Transport Canada

Due to the extremely high cost and volatile pricing of fuel there is a fuel levy added to all tours. 5% Goods and Services Tax is also not included.
We reserve the right to alter itineraries and vessels based on weather, availability, animal locations, mechanical breakdowns or other factors which our skipper / crew consider imperative.
Our crew work very hard to make your trip as exciting and comfortable as possible and are always greatly appreciative of gratuities received for good service.
The meet time is 30 minutes before departure at our Comox Marine Centre. Park for free at the Comox Municipal Marina, then walk to the buildings above the marina. Look for the blue and yellow storefront.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Our 4 hour tours operate on a minimum passenger load of 6. If we do not meet the minimum passenger load we will take the following steps;
- You may choose to rebook on another date
- We will do our best to schedule you with another tour provider
- You may request a full refund without penalty.
